If you want a reasonably priced Miami hotel on the beach and can turn a blind eye to certain things like German roaches, broken elevators, and no hot water- this is the place. The staff were wonderful and kind, but the owner of this property needs to step it up and pay for their elevators to work. We stayed in a suite and one bathroom had hot water while the other didn’t. We saw two German roaches in the room while we were there, these are different from palmetto bugs (Florida roaches) because the palmetto bugs are all over the stage while German roaches signify uncleanliness. The a/c in our hallway (6th floor) didn’t seem to work and stepping into that hall was an assault of humidity and an odd smell, but our rooms were overall fine. We had a nice view of the street from our balcony (love the local midcentury and art deco architecture!) and our rooms were spacious for the four of us. The pool is small but nice, and getting chairs on the beach was also a welcome treat. Parking is not for the faint- the garage in this hotel fills up quickly but the concierge recommended another garage nearby for the same $40/day price that was fine. This hotel is in walking distance of a few places and about 12 minutes driving from the is the Versace mansion and the art deco district. This area is insanely priced and this hotel is probably one of the best priced locations, but the owners need to step it up in terms of property maintenance.
