I really like this hotel in terms of location, quality of rooms, and price. They even upgraded us to a suite. One frustration this time is that the heat did not come on. It just blew cold air. I notified the front desk and they said that the hotel can only do AC or heat on any given day and that they were in AC mode. That's frustrated because they did not inform us in any way about that. They ended up bringing up a space heater, which mostly solved the problem, but they should have been more proactive about letting us know about this weird limitation. And they should fix their system so each room can decide what it wants to do independently.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. While you can tell it's an older hotel, the room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the amenities were great. I appreciated the small kitchen, the changing area outside the bathroom, and the size of the room. I didn't use the gym, but I did check it out. If you're a dedicated lifter, it's lacking in dumbbells - only goes to a pair of 25's. Also, the adjustable bench wasn't able to be adjusted no matter what I tried. However, there are other pieces of equipment and some cardio machines. The hotel staff were friendly. The garage is very small, but I was able to back in my mini-van despite the tight space. The hotel was a great location to access the museums / monuments or to walk up to the Metro for a quick trip elsewhere. I also liked the CVS next door. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Really good stay.
We had a really good stay! The hotel is clean and comfortable and in a great location. The area is safe and quiet with a few restaurants. Lots of young people since it’s among the George Washington University buildings. Few items to be aware of… the hotel has two entrances and it can be confusing. One entrance is not accessible (stairs/no ramp) however one can enter via elevator from the garage or use the second entrance (which is around the block on another street). The tv situation is just plain bad. They need to upgrade, and there are no ice machines on the floors or a little fridge to keep water/soda… one needs to call the front desk for ice which is not a big deal, but it is an extra step if one likes cold drinks in the room like we do ;)

Very clean! Amazing hotel! Great location!
My friend and I came To DC for a concert and I picked the State Plaza Hotel for our stay. This hotel was AMAZING! Our room had a cute little kitchenette which I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be a little room in itself but it was nice! The kitchenette had dinnerware, pots and pans and cutting board and utensils for you to use. A small refrigerator to store your food and drinks as well as a microwave. The room was very, very clean!!! The staff were all very hospitable and amazing!!! The location was close to everything. We would definitely stay at the State Plaza Hotel again and again!!!

Wow - the service!
The hotel and room were extremely clean...like, our room's bathroom floor tile was shiny! The whole team from front desk to room cleaners to random staff pointing us in the right direction from the parking garage were very attentive and friendly!! It's not a new and modern building but it didn't matter - the experience was great thanks to the hotel staff!

Good hotel, comfortable bed, good WIFI, very spacious room. I arrived earlier than official check in time and got the room assigned on arrival - thanks to the front desk! Hotel has CVS right next to it, metro station, and overall very conveniently located. The only problem for me was the heating during the night. I couldn't regulate the temperature, so when I went to sleep and switched the heat on - it was nice and warm but during the night I had to get up to switch it off as it got really hot. Would stay here again!
