The staff was excellent. The room was okay. I was on the 10th floor and the noise from the traffic was still loud. I didn't like the fact that I wasn't made aware that they only have valet parking available until I arrived in my rental car. That's an expense that people should be made aware of in advance.

Unfortunately upon check in we found our room's two window-AC-units both had large amounts of mold in the vents, and you could smell mildew in the room and on the bed sheets. The room itself also had a variety of issues that come with it being an old building that hasn't been kept up very well. Staff was apologetic, but unable to move us to another room due to no availability, and they couldn't replace the AC units because they didn't have the parts to do so. Ultimately my wife and I had to find a new hotel the day of, an expensive move in Waikiki. Vive hotel staff refused to give us a full refund, but thankfully Expedia covered the loss. We were sad that our experience didn't match the positive reviews we read when booking.

I liked that they offered beach chairs and umbrellas for free. Their staff were top notch friendly.What I didn't like was the air conditioning unit in our rm. Was toooo loud not to mention there was construction close by and they don't have noise cancelling windows unfortunately.
