We had a lovely time during our stay at the Romer. The old Ambassador hotel has been refurbished into a neighborhood gem. There was a lot of time and effort put into this transformation and the result is a taste of old Hawai’i—how refreshing to see. We wish this was more of a theme in Waikiki.
There were a few minor issues that we noticed during our stay.
One, there wasn’t a decent sized trash/rubbish bin in our rooms. Only tiny small ones in the bath. This made it difficult for us to dispose of our larger items. Luckily, we were right next to the trash chute so we were able to throw larger things away without too much hassle, however, it would have been nice to have a large rubbish bin in our room for the convenience.
Secondly, my husband went for a swim in the pool in the morning and came face to face with a floating half eaten slice of pizza. Not sure what to say there, but pretty gross.
Third, the bathroom was extremely noisy. The vent/dehumidifier was on 24/7 with no way of turning it off. We could hear it from most areas throughout, but still a minor issue considering.
Other than those three things, we had a lovely stay. The staff was excellent and so very welcoming. The common areas were lovely and comfortable. A great place to relax while enjoying your surroundings. We look forward to returning in the future and will spread the word in the meantime.
